Today, we had nearly two dozen students, grades 2-12, at our Doctor for a Day event at the Tukwila Community Center. With nearly just as many medical student, resident, and physician volunteers, the students were able to foster great 1-on-1 discussions and learning! Morning stations included learning the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, what types of questions physicians ask patients with diabetes, and a nutrition/diet exercise with glucose monitoring! After our half hour lunch and Q&A, we broke out into afternoon stations, showing students how insulin pumps work, how to perform a physical exam, and an exciting organ pathology section! We’d like to thank the Tukwila Community Center for hosting us and for helping organize the event!
Youth Participant Quotes:

“Everything, I wish all the stations were longer because they were all fun!”
